Elmedin Zunic was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina in 1979. He came to Norway in 1993 due to developing conflicts in the region. Elmedin completed his Bachelor of Arts in 2009 at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, where he also obtained an M.A. in Fine Arts in 2010. Elmedin currently resides in Kristiansand, Norway. Over the past year he has been actively involved in both the art scene of Norway as well as those abroad, exhibiting in South Africa, Thailand, and Australia in the last 12 months. He currently holds residency of a subsidized artist studio in Kristiansand granted to him in 2011.

Before starting his studies in art, Elmedin completed education in social theory and science. He describes, “I wanted to use the knowledge that I gained from my previous studies in my art projects. I believe that an artist uses his/her experience consciously and unconsciously as a filter that infiltrates his/her perception of the world. My background has made this fusion of art and science inevitable. Much of my work therefore reflects on personal experience.
I believe that an artist cannot make an artwork that is purely objective; as perception is a highly subjective matter.”

Elmedin works across a wide range of mediums, but specializes in installation and painting. His work uses processes of reflection and image transfer to addresses issues of perception, and identity. Philosophy forms a strong part of his artistic explorations, often referring to theories of such writers as Heiddegger and Lacan.
